Tom and his boat "As One Does" was a godsend for my partner Michele and me! We had taken lessons and gotten ASA certified in beginning keelboat in 2019. Then the pandemic hit. So, by the summer of 2021 it had been two years since we sailed. We wanted to join a yacht club and sail in their "club boat" program but lacked the confidence that only time on the water could give us.
Sailing with Tom a couple times built up our confidence so we are ready to get skipper certified and start sailing on our own at our club.
"As One Does" is a comfortable, easy-sailing boat! Tom's relaxed, but complete, narrative manner of instruction is wonderful. He'll take you through the dinghy launch into readying the boat for sailing. He'll talk safety. Then you'll slice your way through the Sound, practicing maneuvers, and enjoy the sunset (In a word, unforgettable!) Tom will help you wind your way back to the mooring and go through the important ritual of putting the boat away til next time. The trips with Tom brought all the content we learned back and then some.
Bottom line:Tom's enthusiasm for sailing reminded us why we wanted to learn to sail in the first place.
